Academic Advising Rules at Al-Shahba Private University
For every student who completes the registration procedures, a member of the teaching staff is appointed as an academic advisor to assist the student in selecting courses according to the approved study plans in each faculty. The advisor provides academic and social guidance to the student throughout their years of study.
The relevant scientific department is responsible for monitoring the academic progress of its registered students, according to procedures prepared by the University Council for this purpose.
The effective implementation of the credit hour system depends on academic advising. This task is carried out by an academic advisor appointed exclusively from the teaching staff for each student, where each advisor supervises a group of students. The duties of the academic advisor include:
Supervising the student from the beginning of their enrollment until graduation.
Monitoring their academic path.
Determining the appropriate credit load for the student each semester and explaining the importance of completing prerequisites for any course.
Supervising the student's registration, add/drop, and withdrawal processes.
Coordinating with the Permanent Committee for Academic Advising.
The student selects the courses they wish to register for exclusively with the assistance of their academic advisor. These courses are recorded on the designated registration form, which is then submitted to the registration officer in the Examination Department. The student pays the specified fees for the selected courses based on the number of credit hours for each course.
